WD131 ~ Fundamentals of Design
6.0 Quarter Credit Hours
This course discusses the theory of line, texture, color, form, balance, proportion, size, shape, mass, unity and variety. Spatial relationship and compositions in two and three dimensional space, two dimensional radii manipulation and form transition are also covered. Students will be introduced to graphic composition, layout and the use of grids in graphics composition.

WD132 ~ Elements of Design
6.0 Quarter Credit Hours
This course is an overview of both typography and color theory. Students will learn the theoretical and applicable principles of letter forms and color theory basics. Topics include layout, grids, experiments in two-dimensional composition, the techniques of artwork, typography studies leading to the creation of new typefaces, in addition to typography as applied to commercial design. Color theory, color relationships, the psychology of color and the use of color in design will also be explored.

WD133 ~ Digital Imaging
6.0 Quarter Credit Hours
This course focuses on the utilization of industry standard software to edit images and prepare images for print and the Web. Various image formats and image compression will also be covered, as well as the basics of computer file management.

WD134 ~ Digital Illustration
6.0 Quarter Credit Hours
Students will utilize current industry software to produce vector-based computer illustrations and incorporate these skills into comprehensive designs. The concepts of space, composition and special relationships will be explored through practical hands on projects. Students will also learn how to export and import vector images into other computer applications.

WD135 ~ Web Design
6.0 Quarter Credit Hours
This course will introduce students to the basics of web design including HTML hand-coding, layout design, navigation, interactive design, usability, content management, and the planning process. Practical hands-on activities using hand-coding and current industry software will be used to design basic web pages.

WD136 ~ Advanced Web Design
6.0 Quarter Credit Hours
Students will design and create a live website using current industry software. Cascading Style Sheets and the basics of static and dynamic web pages will also be covered. Students will explore the advanced features available to create dynamic content for websites.
Prerequisite: WD135
WD137 ~ Multimedia Design
6.0 Quarter Credit Hours
This course will explore the basics of multimedia and interactive design. Current industry software (such as Adobe Flash) will be used to create interactive menus, timelines, vector-based animation and websites. Work flow between computer applications will also be covered.
Prerequisite: WD 133, WD134
WD138 ~ Advanced Multimedia Design
6.0 Quarter Credit Hours
This course is a continuation of the multimedia design course, and will include instruction of creating advanced multimedia applications, environments such as web-based games. Scripting for multimedia applications will be covered using industry standard multimedia design software.
Prerequisite: WD133, WD134, WD137
WD200 ~ Streaming Multimedia
6.0 Quarter Credit Hours
This course will explore the basics of video and audio production and editing. Using current industry software, students will edit their own video productions, such as TV commercials or short videos. Storyboarding, sound for picture, video compression formats and preparing video for streaming over the Internet will also be covered.

WD201 ~ Digital Portfolio and Career Development
6.0 Quarter Credit Hours
This course will prepare students for entering the job market. Students will develop a portfolio, create a resume and cover letter, and explore interviewing techniques and job research skills. This course will also explore life skills for maintaining a successful career in the design field.

WD202 ~ Design Capstone
4.5 Quarter Credit Hours
Students will create a comprehensive media-based project using the skills learned throughout their program of study. The course is intended to closely simulate the actual working creative process of a professional design or multimedia studio.
Prerequisite: WD131, WD132, WD133, WD134, WD135, WD136(or WD204), WD137, WD138, WD200(or WD205)
GEN330 ~ Art History
4.0 Quarter Credit Hours
This overview course will explore the history of art from early civilizations to today. Students will develop a broad foundation in art history and an understanding of various art styles throughout civilization.
