Lincoln’s Bachelor's of Science Degree in Information Management and Security is designed to give you a solid understanding of fundamental and advanced concepts and practices. The program consists of 36 courses, and is usually completed in about three years.
You’ll gain a thorough knowledge of the essential concepts, theories and applications of information technology, as well as advanced knowledge of Linux applications, Security essentials, Help Desk support and Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MSCA) practices. First, you’ll learn the core principles and procedures of networking, office applications, computer hardware and software and desktop operating systems. You’ll also be exposed to the unique challenges of the IT business world and will become skilled in customer service essentials.
At Lincoln we want every student to receive a well-rounded college education. So along with your IT courses, you’ll take 15 courses from our General Education curriculum. The variety of general education includes topics like American Government, Communications and Introduction to Critical Thinking.
The Information Management and Security program emphasizes hands-on learning experiences based on performance-based objectives and incorporates troubleshooting techniques in every course. When you complete this program, you’ll be trained for jobs like systems analyst, operating support, network support or security support. You’ll be eligible and encouraged to sit for industry certifications such as CompTIA A+ IT Technician, Network+, Server+, Security+, Novell Certified Linux Professional, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator and EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker.
